Auckland Adventures

In 2017 participants and advisors will be spoiled for choice! Choose to enjoy stunning views of Auckland from the iconic Sky Tower or from the top of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. For all the thrill seekers out there, we have provided the option of taking a bunny jump off the Harbour Bridge or a ride on a jet boat across the beautiful Waitemata Harbour.

We are certain this taste of Auckland will make the Champions Trophy Case Competition 2017 an unforgettable experience.

Activities

Each participant and advisor will be able to choose one of the following activities:

  • Harbour Bridge Bungy Jump
New Zealanders are extremely proud of AJ Hackett who commercialised bunny jumping in 1996. This is a true showcase of kiwi spirit, and for the thrill seekers, is not to be missed. For those of you who choose this option, you will be taken up the Harbour Bridge, have a rope tied around your ankles and plummet 40 metres towards the water. You can even opt for a refreshing dip in the ocean at the bottom!
  • Harbour Bridge Climb
Enjoy a 1.5-hour sightseeing tour from the iconic Auckland Harbour Bridge. The guided tour will share the Bridge’s history and architectural features as well as observing a 360-degree view of Auckland from the summit. You may even be able to catch a glance of the bungy jumpers.
  • Jet Boat
If you’re not a fan of heights, and maybe water is your preferred element, then taking a ride on the Jet Boat is for you. This 35-minute ride will take you to speeds of up to 90km/h and through high speed 180 and 270-degree manoeuvres. At the same time, you will get to enjoy Auckland’s picturesque Waitemata Harbour.
  • Sky Tower Visit
At 328 metres, the Sky Tower is the tallest man-made structure in New Zealand and offers breath-taking views for up to 80 kilometres in every direction. Enjoy the 360-degree view of Auckland from the 220m high Sky Deck, and relax with a coffee and light refreshments.

Bowls Night

Lawn bowls is the perfect activity to relax and have a few quiet drinks after a long day of social events. Bowls is a great summer sport and has grown in popularity among youths in New Zealand. The objective is to roll biased balls so that it stops close to a smaller ball called a “jack” or “kitty”, and is played on a flat green.

On Bowls Night, participants and advisors will be welcome to mix and mingle over food and drinks, and enjoy a relaxing kiwi summer evening playing lawn bowls.

Beach Day

Beach Day is your opportunity to experience a laid-back summer’s day. In 2017 we decided to kick things up a notch by taking Participants and Advisors to the jewel of Auckland, Waiheke Island. The Island is famous for its wineries and boasts sandy beaches, clear cool water and great stretches of grass where you will enjoy Kiwi staples such as fish & chips, barbecued sausages and more. Don’t forget to pack your swimming gear to ensure that you can enjoy the water!
